This paper reviews several proposed methods for estimating the mode of a probability density function. The method of Chemoff [2] is examined in greater detail and is shown to be a strongly consistent estimate of a somewhat generalized mode under relaxed conditions on the distribution. Finally, an application to determining blood flow characteristics is given.
